One of the stories that have come from the strike embarked upon by the doctors in Imo State has been the allegation that their state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has been at the forefront of trading in human organs and exporting same to some parts of the world.
This accusation, grave and serious as it looks, came when the medical doctors numbering over two hundred were sacked before the National Chairman of the APC intervened so that the strike could be called off and the doctors recalled. Trading in human organs which is a major international crime, has assumed alarming proportions in the last ten years as many top government officials as well as businessmen and health workers do it to make quick money running into millions of dollars. This is more pronounced in developing countries where little or no attention is paid to the health of the poor and their voice s are hardly heard when complaining after such organs have been removed from them.
That the accusation is coming from doctors against their state Governor, Rochas Okorocha according to a source in the state that does not want to be quoted, is worrisome because unless higher authorities come in, nobody can question him.
