Not many people would know that the late First lady of Kogi state, Zainab Idris wife of the immediate past governor of the state Ibrahim Idris was separated from her husband before she died. Indeed she lived in the Abuja home of her first son, Mohammed Idris who is a member of the House of Representatives in Wuse Zone 6 after she moved out of the family house in Maitama over irreconcilable differences with her husband.According to impeccable sources close to the family, Zainab Ibrahim Idris watched helplessly as her husband, under pressure from politicians betrayed a family friend who had been very close to the family and had all through their two term in government single-handedly picked some of the bills which the governor should have picked including weddings of some of their kids.

Suspected robbers on Sunday evening stormed the residence of an engineer, Mr. Samson Opaluwa, in Karmo, Abuja, kidnapping two ladies in the family after robbing them.
PUNCH Metro learnt that while the elder lady, Ejura Opaluwa, is 23 years, her sister, Unekwu is four years younger.
It was learnt that the gunmen, who drove a blue Honda Accord car with number plate, HR 152 ABC, stormed the family’s residence on Impresit Camp, Associated Estate at about 5pm.
Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen raided the entire house and dispossessed the residents of their valuables.After carrying out the operation, the robbers were said to have been dissatisfied with the money they got.It was gathered that as they were leaving, they abducted the two sisters.

IGP MOHAMMED ABUBAKAR TO PAY 5MIL FOR UNLAWFUL DETENTION OF PHONE REPAIRER...

An Abuja Federal High Court, has ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar to pay N5 million as damages to cell-phone repairer, Simon Eke, for unlawful arrest and detention without trial.Eke was arrested and detained in October 2013 at Wuse, Abuja.
Delivering judgment, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Ibrahim Auta, described the action of the police as `barbaric.’
“I have taken a critical look into the proceedings in this case and discovered that this matter came up for hearing up to nine times and the police were served with processes, yet no appearance was made to defend the suit.“Rather than coming to court to defend the suit, the defendants resorted to writing the court asking for frivolous adjournments up to seven times.

Missing N70bn SURE-P fund:Plateau Lawmakers Exchange Blows

Members of the Plateau state House of Assembly yesterday exchanged hot words and blows while deliberating on whether or not the House should sit and deliberate over a petition sent to it by a group alleging that the speaker and majority of the members have been bribed in foreign currencies by Governor Jonah David Jang.
Blueprint gathered that the House, which could not sit on Tuesday due to some reasons, convened yesterday, and that the members engaged one another in fisticuffs.
Some members had backed Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan, who had insisted that the House must deliberate on the matter.

WOLRLD CUP: ECHIEJILE OUT, UZOENYI IN...

THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially written to FIFA to drop injured Elderson Echiejile for Rangers’ forward Ejike Uzoenyi.
NFF media director, Ademola Olajire, who confirmed this to The Guardian Saturday said that Uzoenyi, who was adjudged the best player at the African Nations Championship (CHAN), would leave for USA immediately.
Earlier, Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, said he would seek better medical opinion before deciding whether injured Echiejile will make it to the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
The defender was absent from the team’s training on Friday fuelling speculation that the AS Monaco player might miss the Mundial.

PROTESTS GREET ANNOUNCEMENT OF EX-CBN GOVERNOR AS NEW KANO EMIR...

A NEW emir of Kano was announced Sunday. He is a former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
In a speech of not more than two minutes, the Secretary to the Kano State Government Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi disclosed that after exhaustive deliberation by the kingmakers in the last two days they submitted their decision to the state government which considered and endorsed it.
The announcement was made in the presence of the kingmakers: Madakin Kano, Sarkin Ban Kano, Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta and the Makama of Kano. The announcement reversed a rumour spreading in the state since yesterday that the eldest son of the emir would be appointed as the new emir.
It was learnt that before a final decision was taken by the state government, the governor summoned some elders in the state to consult with them.

 A night before, a high-powered team of the All Progressives Congress slept in Kano in a show of solidarity for Sanusi. The team comprised of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Bukola Saraki, Nuhu Ribadu, Rotimi Amaechi, Aliyu Wamakko, among others.
The new Emir of Kano Lamido Sanusi on Sunday narrowly escaped being arrested by security operatives at his personal residence in Kano hours after he was appointed to the coveted throne.
A source who declined to be named for security reasons said the Kano state Government hurriedly sneaked Mr. Sanusi out of his personal residence after receiving intelligence that the Federal Government was plotting to arrest him to stop him from being turbaned.

Barely three months after some applicants lost their lives in a recruitment exercise organized by the Ministry of Interior for the Nigerian Immigration Services, NIS,an exercise that attracted global condemnation , and which was subsequently cancelled, some persons, claiming to be officials of the embattled ministry have started to dupe unsuspecting Nigerians of their money, promising them a slot in the Ministerial list.
Specifically, willing applicants were instructed to pay, in cash, half a million Naira to get a place on an imaginary Ministerial list being compiled in the office of the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro.
The scammers , apparently playing on the desperation of most parents and guardians,whose wards have been home for years after the completion of the compulsory post- graduation National Youth Service Corps,NYSC, programme tell their victims to end the endless years of joblessness by paying half a million for a slot in a ministerial list being compiled in the Area 1office of the Interior Minister's office.

FULANI HERDSMEN KILL 4 GBAGYI FARMERS IN ABUJA...

The police in Gwagwalada, FCT, Abuja, have confirmed that four people were killed and 19 others injured in a clash between Gbagyi farmers and Fulani herdsmen in Paiko, near Gwagwalada, on Thursday.
The Divisional Police Officer in the area, Mr Patrick Daaor, told the News Agency of Nigeria yesterday that two persons died at the scene, while two others died at the hospital.
Daaor said the quick intervention of the police helped in controlling the clash.
The Chairman, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr Haruna Abubakar, also confirmed the casualties.
