FORTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Richard Macaulay Obafemi, will have a long time to rue over the day his life took a wrong turn that led him into armed robbery and car-snatch­ing as has been alleged by the police.
Until he descended into the new career, Obafemi was a medical doctor, who according to his account, had his primary and secondary school education at Ipaja, Lagos State before proceeding to the Univer­sity College London, UCL, where he obtained a degree in Microbiology in 1987 and later studied medicine at UCL, from 1987-1992. In 1993, he did the housemanship in Hatsfield, London. In 1996, Obafemi came to Nigeria for the Nation­al Youth Service Corps Scheme and was posted to Kwara State. At the end of the service year, Obafemi took up appointment with the College of Medicine, University of Benin, where he worked for two years from 1998 to 2000, before travelling to Saudi Arabia.

A new twist to the ongoing trial of the embattled former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col Sambo Dasuki may emerge in the days ahead as his loyalists at the weekend said they would soon release videos of personalities that benefitted from the controversial $2.1billion arms deal. They said the release of the video is necessary to help properly situate facts regarding the deal stressing that some prominent Nigerians who collected huge sums from the arms money were now publicly denying doing so and even working surreptitiously for the continued incarceration of Dasuki.

EFCC SEIZES EX-ADAMAWA GOVERNOR, FINTIRI'S N500MIL HOUSE...

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has seized a terrace house belonging to a former acting Governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri. The house is located on No. 7, Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja.
One of our correspondents, who visited the house, was told that the property was worth about N500m.
The house had painted at its entrance the inscription, ‘EFCC, under investigation’.

GOVERNMENT RAKES IN N586BIL AS TAX IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2016...



The Federal Government generated a total sum of N586.17bn as tax revenue through the Federal Inland Revenue Service in the first quarter of this year, a document showing the fiscal position of government has shown.
An analysis of the document, obtained by our correspondent from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation on Friday, indicated that the tax revenue generated within the period indicated a shortfall of N170.54bn when compared to the N756.71bn earned in the first quarter of 2015.

A man simply identified as Dee Pee from Umuaku Isiala Mbutu community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State was set ablaze by irate youths for al­legedly killing both husband and wife.
Sunday Sun gathered at the weekend that the suspect had on the May 30, 2016 trailed Mrs Ukachi Njoku who was from Umuaku Mbutu Ukwu, a neighbour­ing community also in Aboh Mbaise council, to her farm where he allegedly hacked her to death and removed her private parts apparently for ritual purposes.
It was learnt that Mr. Rowland Njoku who had also gone to the farm to join the wife was also attacked and killed by the suspect. But their assailant who es­caped from the farm had inadvertently left one of his pair of shoes.

 ADCs to former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan are among the 58 military officers retired by the Nigerian army in its latest exercise.
They were retired over two allegations, according to the army: partisanship and corruption.
Ojogbane Adegbe, a colonel and former ADC to Jonathan, and Mustapha Onoiveta, former ADC to Yar’Adua, were both retired.Nicholas Achinze, a colonel and former military assistant to Owoye Azazi, a retired general, and Sambo Dasuki, a retired colonel, was also retired.
