Breaking News:Boko Haram Leader Dismisses Claims Of His Death In New Video…

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau dismissed Nigerian military claims of his death in a new video obtained by AFP on Thursday and said the militants had implemented strict Islamic law in captured towns.
"Here I am, alive. I will only die the day Allah takes my breath," Shekau said, adding that his group was "running our... Islamic caliphate" and administering strict sharia punishments.
Nigeria's military said last week that Shekau was dead and that a man who had been posing as the group's leader in the videos had been killed after fighting with troops in the far northeast.
Security analysts and the United States questioned the credibility of the military's claim.
The new 36-minute video showed Shekau, in combat fatigues and black rubber boots, standing on the back of a pick-up truck and firing an anti-aircraft gun into the air.

Historical Researcher Michael Paulkovich Claimed 'Jesus Never Existed...

Historical researcher Michael Paulkovich has claimed that Jesus of Nazareth was a ‘mythical character’ and never existed. The controversial discovery was apparently made after he found no verifiable mention of Christ from 126 writers during the ‘time of Jesus’ from the first to third centuries. He says he is a fictional character invented by followers of Christianity to create a figure to worship. The claims were made in an article for Free Inquiry called The Fable of the Christ and a book called No Meek Messiah. In the article and book, Paulkovich says he found an absence of evidence for Jesus in historical texts. And he says this is surprising despite his ‘global miracles and alleged worldwide fame.’ The 126 texts he studied were all written in the period during or soon after the supposed existence of Jesus, when Paulkovich says they would surely have heard of someone as famous as Jesus - but none mention him.

Three Boko Haram Suspects Sentenced To 25 Years In Jail Each...

Three Boko Haram members were sentenced to 25 years in jail each by Lagos Federal High Court.
The sentence was allegedly announced Tuesday, September 30, The Nation reports.
However newsmen were not permitted to cover the proceedings and the judgement, as only the prosecution and defence representatives were given access to the court room.
Thus the information was obtained from the witness, who pleaded anonymity. According to the source, the fourth defendant was acquitted.
In the end of 2013 the journalists were stopped from covering the arraignment and trial of 17 suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
The State Security Service officials explained that they had received the appropriate directive from the presidency, according to which the press was not let in.
Out of the 17 suspects two were discharged after the Attorney-General allegedly had filed a nolle prosequi (Latin for “do not prosecute”).
Two more defendants were also later discharged following another nolle prosequi by the prosecution.
The trial continued for 4 other Boko Haram suspects. They were first charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism, illegal possession of firearms, and being members the sect.

2014 Independence Day Broadcast by

His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR

Fellow Nigerians:

1. Today marks the 54th anniversary of our country’s independence as a sovereign nation. This is also the tenth month of our journey into a new century, having marked the centenary of our nation in January this year. 2. The first one hundred years were marked by triumphs and tribulations, benefits and burdens, opportunities and challenges. We made some far reaching advances in building a strong, united and prosperous nation. We also overcame the forces of disunity that culminated in a debilitating civil war. We have also renewed our faith in one another, and in our country. We have proven that we are truly a resilient nation.
