MORE FACTS ON THE MOVE TO IMPEACH GOVERNOR AL MAKURA OF NASARAWA STATE...

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Monday reached a resolution to serve the state governor, Tanko Al-Makura, with an impeachment notice.The resolution followed a motion of public interest raised by the deputy majority leader of the house, Yahaya Usman (PDP-Umaisha/Ugya).Mr. Usman presented a document containing allegations of gross misconduct against the governor, which he said was signed by 20 of the 24 members of the Assembly.
“I’m on my feet to raise a motion under the matter of public interest and I will go direct to read the document I have in my hand,” he said at the Assembly’s sitting. “This is a notice of impeachment of Gov. Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state for gross misconduct. And for the violation of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, today being the 14th of July, 2014. Twenty of the twenty four members of this house unanimously endorsed the motion to serve Gov. Tanko Al-Makura notice of impeachment,” he said.

There are strong indications that the seven-man panel set up to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against the Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako and his deputy, Mr. Bala Ngilari, has indicted the governor but absolved the deputy.It was learnt in Abuja on Sunday, that the panel set up by the immediate past acting Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Ambrose Mammadi, to investigate allegations levelled against the duo arrived at the decision after reviewing exhibits tendered by members of the State House of Assembly who are the complainants.The governor and his deputy neither attended the three hearings nor did they send a representative.

The Board of Governors of the National Judicial Institute has appointed Justice Rosaline Bozimo (Rtd), as its administrator.Justice Bozimo is a former Chief Judge of Delta State.The NJI board, under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mariam Aloma Mukhtar, announced Justice Bozimo’s appointment at its meeting which held on Monday. This was contained in a statement by the CJN’s media aide, Ahuraka Isah, on Monday. Justice Bozimo will take over from Honourable Justice Umaru Eri (Rtd), whose tenure as the Administrator of the NJI will end on August1. Bozimo’s appointment will end in three years. The retired judge, who was born on January 1, 1946, had retired as the Chief Judge of Delta State on January 1, 2011.

JONATHAN MEETS PDP GOVERNORS SET TO INDICATE 2015 INTEREST...

In a move aimed at paving the way for his declaration to contest the 2015 presidential election slated for February, President Goodluck Jonathan will, at 9 pm today, meet all the governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as the National Chairman of the party, Adamu Mu’azu.Prior to meeting the governor, they will be expected to meet at the Asokoro, Abuja residence of the national chairman with other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party before proceeding to the Presidential Villa to meet with the president and some key cabinet members.
A presidency source told THISDAY that the second meeting between the president, governors and Mu’azu is expected to be the icebreaker, as Jonathan would use the opportunity to inform the party and the governors of his decision to seek a second term in office.

The Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Nigeria, Fouad Rajeh, on Friday, allegedly assaulted a policeman who was on duty at the official residence of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar. A source disclosed that the envoy tried to drive pass through a barricade in front of the IGP’s residence in Maitama District of Abuja, but was ordered by the policemen on duty to turn back and follow another route for security reasons. However, Mr. Rajeh, insisted on driving pass through the area, resulting in a heated argument between him and the security agents on duty.
“At some point, the ambassador became infuriated and began punching one of the policemen on duty at the IG’s house”, our source said.

BATTLE FOR DELTA PDP SENATORIAL SEAT: STATE CHAIRMAN BEATS UP AHMADU ALI’S WIFE...

It is the battle over who picks the Delta North Senatorial Seat in the next elections reached a climax a few days ago as the PDP state Chairman allegedly beat up the wife of former National Chairman of the party, Mariam Ali. Mariam Ali is presently an aide to President Goodluck Jonathan.
Delta State Police Command has launched investigation into Friday’s free-for-all between a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs. Mariam Ali and the state’s chairman of the ruling party, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, in Asaba, the state’s capital.
We reliably learnt that the matter was being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the command. It was gathered that the police action was sequel to formal complaint of assault made against Nwaoboshi by the PDP’s BoT member and wife of a former national chairman of the party, Ahmadu Ali.
Ali was beaten up in a brawl with Nwaoboshi at the secretariat of the party in Asaba, on Friday.

BORNO POLITICIAN ABSCONDS AFTER POLICE INVITED HIM OVER 10 GOLF CARS IN ABUJA HOME...

A politician (names withheld) in Karu Area of Abuja is now on the run after police detectives discovered 10 Golf cars in his possession. The 10 Golf cars were reportedly parked in the politician’s compound in Karu, the next town after Nyanya, where terrorists bombed and killed several persons on April 14 and May 15 this year. Speaking with a journalist yesterday, the FCT Police Commissioner, Mr. Mbu T. Mbu, said: “We have 10 Golf vehicles bought by a politician. When we got the report, we waited for him; he is on the run now. We have recovered the Golf vehicles; the politician is from Borno State; only God knows what he wants to do with them.”
CP Mbu urged Abuja residents to be more security conscious and call Police hot lines or his direct line 09032424747 whenever they notice any strange movements.

INITERIOR MINISTER ABBA MORO MOVES AGAINST IMMIGRATIONS AGAIN...

There are strong indications that the relationship between the Minister of Interior, Comrade Patrick Abba Moro, and the Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) Comptroller General, Mr. David Shikfu Parradang, may have gone from bad to worse in recent times.
The bitterness which started during the ill-fated NIS recruitment exercise that claimed several lives, got worse when the National Assembly probed the incident and the immigration management allegedly heaped the blame for the failure of the exercise on the ministry. Since then, both the minister and the comptroller general were said to be not in talking terms and avoided each other in the public as much as possible to prevent observers from noticing the cold relationship.

The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Musa Ahmed on Monday, directed the Clerk of the House to serve Gov. Tanko Al-Makura with notice of impeachment for `gross misconduct’.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the development followed a motion of public interest raised by the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Mr Yahaya Usman (PDP-Umaisha/Ugya) during plenary in Lafia.Usman presented a document signed by 20 of the 24 members of the Assembly which contained the allegations of gross misconduct against the governor. He said: “I am on my feet to raise a motion under matters of public interest and I will go directly to read the document I have in my hand.
