There were high emotions
and tears at an Abuja Magistrate Court yesterday when a 13-year-old girl, who
was allegedly tortured by her guardian was brought to the court.
The guardian, Yemi Adetayo, of
Arab Road, Kubwa was charged with cruelty to a child, an offense contrary to
Section 238b of the Penal Code.
Police Prosecutor, Lukas Ephraim, told the court that the accused, on March 16 and 23 willfully ill-treated a 13-year-old girl, who was in her custody by bartering her, flogging her with a wire and dipping her right wrist into hot water with the intent to cause her pain or body injury.
