Three weeks ago, through our sister-blog, abujareporters.com, we disclosed how some elements within the National Broadcasting Commission wanted Emeka Mba out by spuriously alleging that some money was missing from the Commission’s accounts. The EFCC had picked Mba for over four weeks and he was neither charged to court nor freed even when stakeholders went on national
television to vouch for him and told whoever cared to listen that the said money was in the bank. We disclosed how Mba became a VIP of sort with the EFCC and how staff and friends who knew him for who he was came around to cheer him up. Mba was eventually vindicated and given a clean bill by the EFCC who claimed that he had nothing to fear and that they were sorry to have picked him up.
In our report, we disclosed that the real issue behind Mba’s travail might have been the fact that he had turned the Commission around and from being a drain pipe, the organisation was set to become a cash cow that would yield about 1.7 Trillion Naira in 2017 and a lot of people had eyes on the money and they would do anything to be in charge when the money comes in.
We reliably gathered that the cabal behind Mba’s travails is right inside the NBC. Working hand in hand with powerful elements in the Presidency they have ensured that the President removed him and in couple of days, their own person shall be appointed to fill the post. It is an agenda which is linked with the big money that the organization is expected to make in 2016/ 2017 when the digitalization policy takes full effect.
