---New MD is Stella Oduah’s main man
Days after the NAMA boss, Engr, Ibrahim Abusalam was arrested over 5Billion Naira fraud by the EFCC, the organisation is in the news again for the wrong reasons. According tour investigations, the visible hands of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi is the one stoking the embers of disquiet in the Aviation body. We impeccably gathered that Amaechi, had on February 16, 2016, directed Mr. Emmanuel Anasi, an Acting Director in the agency, to act as the managing director, following the arrest of the substantive Managing Director of the agency.No sooner had the guy been appointed when petitions thronged the Ministry over the appointment by those who claimed that Anasi was not the most senior officer in the organisation and that he should not have been the one to act in that capacity. Based on their complaints, again the minister sent another letter informing NAMA that a new acting Managing Director in person of Akangson who until then was the Director in charge of Human Resources.
Those who area against the new appointment have already started their own protest and they seem to have a strong case. Akangson joined NAMA during the days of former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah, whose tenure is still under investigation. Indeed, he is known to be one of the former Minister’s hatchet men as he was used by the former minister to perpetuate a lot of irregularities while she presided as the supervising Minister.
As insiders who want Akangson battle to ensure his appointment stands, so also many people have been raising issues of integrity and the need to give NAMA a new breath of life, devoid of its controversial past when its funds have been used as slush funds by its leaders and minister.
As at the time of filing this report, the organisation is polarised along the two lines and this experts believe could jeopardise its activities.
