SO WHO OWNS ABUJA’S ‘BIGGEST’ HOSPITAL?...

Faceoff was averted by the National Conference Chairman Justice Idris Kutigi yesterday when his subtle intervention in a matter doused the disagreement between two delegates Hon Sidi Ali and former Governor of Rivers state, Dr Peter Odili.
While making his contributions to the report on Devolution of Powers Committee, Hon Sidi Ali representing the Federal government had stated that a former governor of Rivers state owned the biggest hospital in Abuja.Hon Ali, a veteran journalist, stated that he had a very cordial relationship with the people of the Niger Delta region and his knowledge of the people and place made him realise that even though a lot of money had accrued to them from the derivation principle, yet the place was not developed; alluding to the fact that it was their leaders that cornered the money for their personal use.
While he was yet to conclude on his contribution the former governor and a delegate on the platform of the Forum for Former Governors was busy shouting “point of order,” “point of order” but since the chairman of the conference knew he was to respond to Sidi Ali’s statement, he had ignored him.

His continued shout of “point of order” finally attracted the attention of chairman when he allowed him to make the point so that the contributions would continue.

The former governor who introduced himself as a medical doctor angrily told delegates that despite being a former governor of Rivers state, he owned no “biggest hospital” in Abuja as touted by Hon Ali.
Odili noted that there were four former governors of Rivers state in the conference challenging Ali that “if you sure of your facts you should name the owner of the hospital or I will take legal action against you,” he stated.

Ali had stated that he is the closest person to the Niger Delta People and for that, he was aware that the biggest hospital in Abuja is owned by a former governor of Rivers state.

Kutigi who did not want the two men to continue to join issues, stated that when he Sidi Ali made the statement, he had expected him to name the governor who owned the hospital but he failed to do so, appealing to Odili to let the matter rest.
