A former member of House of Representatives and a senatorial aspirant, Mr. Bode Mustapha, has accused the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, of double standard by withdrawing the security guards of the Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, after he defected to the All Progressives Congress.
He said should anything untoward happen to the Speaker, the IG should be held responsible.
Mustapha said this on Thursday in Abeokuta shortly after submitting his form of intent to contest the senatorial seat of the Ogun – Central constituency at the secretariat of the APC.
He noted that the IG refused to withdraw the security aides of Governor Olusegun Mimiko when he defected from the Labour Party to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Mustapha said the IG’s role smacked of partisanship.
He said, “The police are no appendage of any political party. The IG has no right to withdraw the the security details of Tambuwal when that of Mimiko were not withdrawn.
“If he took that action to please the President to get his appoitment confirmed, now that he has been confirmed he should restore Tambuwal’s security details.
“The IG should not put this country on fire. He should be wary of the implication if anything should happen to Tambuwal.”
Mustapha, who was the National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party, said he was contesting the Senate seat so as to better the lots of the people in his constituency.
