Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Friday continued their impressive run at the ongoing Africa Women Championship, AWC, in Namibia by beating hosts Namibia, 2-0.
The Super Falcons took the lead in the 36th minute, thanks to Gloria Ofoegbu’s free-kick, while Francesca Ordega doubled the lead a minute later.
The result ensured that the Falcons sealed their semi-final spot and finished as Group A winners with a total of nine points.

The Namibians were hoping to make history with a defeat of the Falcons but the reverse was the case.
Falcons’ Head Coach Edwin Okon had rested the team’s leading striker Desire Oparanozie, Asisat Oshoala, goalkeeper Precious Dede and Enome Ebi from the match.
This was to keep his key players free of injury ahead of the semi-final encounter against Group B runners-up on October 22 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek.
The Falcons have scored 12 goals so far and conceded two in the competition.
The top three teams to emerge from the championship will represent Africa at next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
