 Oritsefemi has been called out by some social media users who accused him of endorsing police brutality following the use of a victim's video in his new music video.
The singer whose song centered on the Coronavirus pandemic, used the video of the lady who was flogged by policemen in Osun state to back his claim of "people who think Coronavirus is a fluke, learning their lesson after being beaten".

DPO arrested for allegedly shooting police officer while dispersing crowd
The Divisional Police Officer of Ilemba Hausa, CSP Yahaya Mohammed Adeshina has been arrested following the shooting and killing of Sergeant Onalaja Onajide who before his death was attached to the police division.
The DPO whose arrest was ordered by the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command Hakeem Odumosu, was accused of shooting the sergeant while dispersing crowds that gathered in front of the station at about 9:40pm on May 10. He is currently being detained at the Sate CID, while his rifle has been taken for forensic examination.

EXCLUSIVE: Federal Ministry Of Agriculture To Spend N15.4bn On Projects Outside Its Remit...

   
The headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) has proposed to spend N15,322,424,894 on projects that do not seem to tally with the scope of its functions.
The projects also seem to conflict with the duties of other Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs).
A breakdown of the projects indicate that the ministry intends to spend N1,716,430,615 or an estimate of N1.7 billion on nine erosion and water channelisation projects across the country.
The 2018 Appropriation Act gives the ministry the go-ahead to use N10,771,416,308 or an estimated N10.8 billion on the provision of solar lights in various local government areas and senatorial districts.

The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Kabiru Mijinyawa, has warned the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole against his alleged plot to include two million fake membership cards into the national register of the party.
Mijinyawa issued the warning during the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Yola on Monday which had the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha.

Another aspirant, Soalabo West, has come out to challenge Governor Nyesome Wike for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ticket in the 2019 governorship election.
West, a lawyer from Kalabari ethnic nationality, yesterday, announced his intention to challenge Wike for the PDP ticket.

He said that he was convinced that the Rivers Government House was now set for a riverine occupant and the push for a “new paradigm to make Rivers great again.”

Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, on Tuesday threatened to revive militants activities in the Niger Delta if Operation Python Dance 3 was allowed in the South East.
Following the disclosure by the Nigerian Army that it will soon commence its Operation Python Dance 3 in the South East, BNYL, had said it “won’t take it”.
However, raising its latest resistance, BNYL warned against the action.

DSS: Acting DG Seiyefa bows to presidency, recalls redeployed officers...

   
The acting Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Mathew Seiyefa, has recalled officers he transferred out of the headquarters of the agency when he resumed office on August 1.
This followed the directive by the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who queried the DSS boss for carrying out reorganisation in the agency without clearance from the Presidential Villa.

DAILY POST had reported that the presidency ordered Seiyefa to reverse the redeployment.

The Nigerian government has said it did nothing wrong by detaining a journalist, Jones Abiri, for two years without trial.
Mr Abiri was recently released on bail by the court after he was charged following outcry by Nigerians and the international community. Before he was charged to court, the Nigerian government had denied he was a journalist and claimed he was only a crime suspect.
The government gave its justification for the detention on Monday in a suit filed by Mr Abiri through his lawyer, Samuel Ogala. The journalist is demanding a compensation of N200 million from the Nigerian government for his prolonged detention without trial.

President Muhammadu Buhari has declined assent to Electoral (Amendment) Bill 2018 due to “some drafting issues” that remain unaddressed following the prior revisions to the Bill, an official said.

Ita Enang, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), made this known in a statement in Abuja on Monday.
The presidential aide said that already, the president had communicated his position to the Senate and the House of Representatives on August 30.

“Mr President is declining assent to the Electoral Amendment Bill due to some drafting issues that remain unaddressed following the prior revisions to the Bill.

A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday said he regretted not doing much to help the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) win in Lagos State when he had the opportunity in 2003.
Mr Abubakar, a PDP presidential aspirant, spoke in Lagos while holding a meeting with members of the party in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was part of his nationwide tour of state chapters, to seek support for his aspiration ahead of 2019 general elections.

He revealed how his former boss, Olusegun Obasanjo, before the 2003 elections, gave him the task to deliver the six South-west states then governed by the Alliance for Democracy (AD) to the PDP.

The Nigerian Navy on Monday said it had inducted over 200 assorted boats into the naval platforms in the last two years. The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Ibok Ibas, made the disclosure in Lagos during the inauguration of six fast patrol crafts and eight inflatable boats at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Ibas said the 200 assorted boats were inducted among other recapitalisation attainment within two years, adding that the ocean had become the primary conduit of international trade and central to the global economy.

Maxim Anokhin, a Russian man, has sued the IVF clinic after his wife admitted that she had swapped his sperm for her lover's during treatment. Maxim had no idea that his one-year-old son Timofey was not his biological child. It wasn't until their relationship turned sour that his wife admitted to the swap.

About 14 persons have been killed in two separate fresh attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Jos South and Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau State. According to reports, the attacks took place last night, Sunday September 2nd.
This fresh attacks comes barely a week after unknown gunmen stormed a village in Barkin Ladi local government area killing a pastor, his wife and their three children.

FORTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Richard Macaulay Obafemi, will have a long time to rue over the day his life took a wrong turn that led him into armed robbery and car-snatch­ing as has been alleged by the police.
Until he descended into the new career, Obafemi was a medical doctor, who according to his account, had his primary and secondary school education at Ipaja, Lagos State before proceeding to the Univer­sity College London, UCL, where he obtained a degree in Microbiology in 1987 and later studied medicine at UCL, from 1987-1992. In 1993, he did the housemanship in Hatsfield, London. In 1996, Obafemi came to Nigeria for the Nation­al Youth Service Corps Scheme and was posted to Kwara State. At the end of the service year, Obafemi took up appointment with the College of Medicine, University of Benin, where he worked for two years from 1998 to 2000, before travelling to Saudi Arabia.
